The Camp Of Loose Ends
when i first heard on the grape vine about of The Camp of Loose Ends my instant thought was, wow these guys must get loose and party hard. So i actually passed up the opportunity at Bohemian Beak Freaks Festival in 2018 to camp with these incredible humans to save my liver. Little did i know The Camp Of Loose Ends would end up being my home! Having never properly met the mastermind behind this camp Christian Denham previously. Fate both brought us together one night in the smoking area at the Burleigh Heads Pub. Next day i was in his magical party van bringing his theme camp down to a festival in Victoria called Rainbow Serpent Festival (the birth place of the camp). The festival was brilliant, so many amazing moments, but what really stood out for me was being apart of this Burning Man inspired theme camp for the very first time.
The whole theme behind The Camp of Loose Ends is to bring together a beautiful array of “younique” individuals into one space to create magic, share love and to have a whole lot of fun in a community style environment. The 12 principles of burning man is the camp ethos, every principle is as important as each other, but the one that shines the most amoungst all the Loose Enders is radical inclusion. Everyone is welcome to come into the space, everyone is always warmly greeted with a smiley face and there is usually something fun happening and more often than not new people stay in the space for a while or for the rest of the burn and or festival. Another principle that stands out is radical self expression, be who you want to be what ever that is and you will always be accepted and celebrated, the costume tent in camp means that everyone gets a chance to dress up and be wild. To be apart of the camp you are invited by any one of the Previous Loose Enders so there is always a mix of different beautiful people who don’t necessarily know each other so there is never any clickyness within the camp. This brings people from all walks of life from many different regions and countries into the space with different things to share and stories to tell. At the The Camp Of Loose Ends you are more than welcome to do what ever you want and bring what ever you want and create any space you would like. The camp visually looks like a shanty town with a labyrinth of spaces that members have created. At our regional burn in Queensland called ‘Modifyre’ The Camp Of Loose Ends had a cuddle puddle, a costume tent, two horse floats with spaces to chill, a hug deli, a stripper pole, a movable bar and still bar, a art car, a bass bug, a workshop space and the only lock in night club called ‘Club Soda’ at Modifyre plus much more. Loose Ends is always changing and evolving depending on who camps with us, but the only thing that doesn’t change is that we ask no chairs so everyone is low to the ground all at the same level, this creates a super comfy relaxed space with lots of carpets, bean bags and cushions that just works really well.
The Vibe is always a group of conscious party goers who look out for and respect one another, we cook with and for one another, love, share, celebrate, play, learn, grow together and evolve spiritually. The aim is to create an international community who are all thriving and evolving and become not only mentors but also leaders in their own right. This is created by the principles and by our ethos, this is a revolution that is much needed in today’s world. Loose Ends has traveled all around Australia to different burns and festivals and also To America in 2017 and in December 2020 The Camp Of The Loose Ends will make its way to Argentina for the Eclipse Festival. With more and more people becoming apart of this beautiful camp and taking with them this amazing ethos we become all connected. When i meet a burner outside a burn i know they are a good person, when i meet a Loose Ender outside the camp we are family. Christian’s dream is for there to be more and more Camps of the same name and ethos popping up everywhere around the world so we can all be a gigantic community and family and all be apart of this spiritual revolution that is upon us.
